Did you guys know I serve in a political party? I think I might have mentioned it before. Specifically I’m Second Vice-Chair of the Libertarian Party of Berks County Pennsylvania.
I took up the task of getting our online house in order and creating a custom icon for our party. Most county icons stick pretty close to the national Libertarian Party icon, like a seal with the county’s outline in it, if at all. The Berks LP’s social networking outlets was just using the LP National’s icon before.
I decided to stick to tradition but break away a bit. I used the county outline, the LP gold, and the ol’ liberty torch but decided to do away with the seal. I mostly ditched the seal concept because I’m not talented enough to create one in GIMP, plus I like minimalism.
My father gave me feedback and told me that the under case stuff might be confusing to people. For example he thought the under case “lp” was a capital “IP”. I’ll probably change that. The icon is mostly just the the Berks outline with the liberty torch, the name is just for the banner. I went lower case purely because I thought it looked better. Nice and minimal, but if it confuses people I’ll drop it.
Over all I’m really happy with it. But still, I’m pretty new to this kind of stuff, do you guys have any feedback for me?
